T42 is slow on shut down
T42 is slow on shut down and startup:
I have just reinstall XP pro from recovery disc. Any known issue that may cause this?
It may just take 30 or more min to shut down!

Hi.
It could be a lot of things, but you can try this (usually helps) still if it takes 30 minutes I don't think that this is the case
start -> run -> gpedit.msc
go to: computer configuration -> Administrative templates -> system -> user profile: Maximun retries to unload and update user profile
choose Enable and set it to 5 (60 is the default)
this speed things up every time I check it, but in your case I think that it's something else.
check if there is 100% usage CPU in some process before shutdown.
in the same location try to disable: Wait for remote user profile.
Also try to do it without network connections (and wifi disabled) to see if there is time difference.
It will help if you can execute Hijackthis and tell me what it reports here.

Indkt.

Huh!, i didn't read that before sorrypaul@bnkc.net wrote:Please note that this a clean install - no spyware - !
try getting rid of the ATI software at startup (ati panel and that crap, it slow down the machine a lot) but still i don't believe that can cause such a huge problem.
I would try reinstalling again, see what happens.
What exactly does it do?, I read the microsoft explanation but sound a little... incompletePuppy wrote:Install User Profile Hive Cleanup Service
