Dear All,
Now, what's the difference between the two?
For sure, Lenovo's newer than intel's
INTEL (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62875.html) and Intel's (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... me=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng)
Driver Date: 9/26/2007
Driver Version: 11.5.0.32
LENOVO (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62875.html)
Driver Date: 11/27/2007
Driver Version: 11.5.0.36
Looking at the timestamp and driver version, Lenovo's newer. However, what is actually the difference (if there is any) between Intel's and Lenovo's
Driver Wireless Card Intel's VS Lenovo's, What's difference?
Well, I'm not sure if this will apply to the T6x's, but at least on my T42 there were two differences.
1) If I installed the Intel drivers for my Intel2200bg card, I could no longer use Fn-F5 to turn the wifi on/off (I could only access that through "Hardware Devices" in "Computer Properties" in XP, and using the Intel drives also broke Access Connections as well,
2) The Intel drivers worked somewhat better than the ones provided by IBM/Lenovo in terms of holding a wifi connection ...

drivers
lenovo has official policy that to use only the Lenovo/IBM approved drivers on your Thinkpads to avoid crashes and other softwares problems.... apparently Lenovo drivers are modified OEM drivers that have been extensively tested to ensure that it do not cause any problems in Thinkpads.... Lenovo has asked its user not to install the latest driver, unless it has been approved by Lenovo.... Some BSOD problem that we are seeing in the new Thinkpads have been caused by installing the latest graphics driver from the OEM (i.e. Intel or Nvidia)....
