I love my T60

After seeing a few threads berating the T60 I thought I would just post and say I think my T60p is great.

I first bumped into a T series at work a few years back, when we got a special from Misco I think, and it was techno love at first site. It was just so... solid. It just worked and worked and no "craplet" unwanted apps etc.

Unfortunately, it wasn't my machine, I was just doing the install, but now after having a Toshiba (don't laugh), a G4 Powerbook, HP NX7300 and several other laptops (including a £1000 Vaio) I finally got my own Thinkpad and i'm so glad I did.

Everything just works, its speedy, build like a brick s**t house and has a exceptional battery life and the sexy mag alloy case. Compare it to any other laptop and you just see the quality.

No poor broken plastic hinges (Toshiba) or screen flex (HP) just a powerhouse of a machine that is just completely sexy.

To anyone thinking about it, it is prolly one of the best IT purchases you could make.

PS The original T series that was given to someone came back some 4 years later, and was still rock solid. Just a screen backlight failure condemned it, but it could have been fixed.

My T60 is a super duper rig, and I agree with what you say. Also, Vista runs well on it.

Office 2007 apps seem to open faster with Vista than XP (did Microsoft actually do something -right- with that?!?) and the machine is nice and quiet without that irritating fan whine that some other models (and other brands) have.

Yeah, couldn't agree with you more - My T60p is the 3rd ThinkPad I've actually owned (previous models were a T43 & T43p - all bought NEW) and am proud of ownership. A lot my colleagues say it's looks dated but they still respect it, especially when it comes to build quality and agree the keyboard is 100% better than what they are use to!

Me too, my current T60 is a great workhorse. It is problem free in XP and Vista 64. I also like the image ThinkPads projects. It says I am here for business. The classic ThinkPad black does not draw attention to it, so I can have the full attention of my clients. It is the polar opposite of that fruit company

The oldest IBM notebook I had used was the PS/2 L40, stashed away in a corner of a lab. They had the TrackPoint I convertible mouse/trackballs, a curiosity or engineering marvel depends how you think about it. They were early 90's vintage and it was 1996 when I was tasked with cleaning and testing them. Other than dead batteries, most of them still worked.

My personal ThinkPad history started with 365XD, T41 and now the T60. The 365XD is still in use today to pull OBD-2 codes from my car. I have also purchased 760, 560, Z60, X61s, etc. on behalf of my clients. They are all very happy with their problem-free computers.

Did anyone noticed that ThinkPads are the only laptops that resisted the logo rotation on the lid? Take a look at laptops from other makers, their logo are up-side-down when facing the user with the lid closed, and right side up to people directly across the table from you. It used to be the logo faced the user. IIRC this change took place when Sony entered the laptop business.

i am just another happy owner of the T60. it is nothing but rock solid, no flexing and can take a lot of abuse. the only thing that i am unhappy about is the touchpad buttons and the silver power/volume buttons and the "thinkvantage" name. but these are clearly aesthetical issues.

Welcome to the Ultimate in laptops. I also love my T60p, well, both of them. I have had now 13 Thinkpads in 9 years. Mostly T series...Which one do you have?
