need a bit of help here. "upgraded" to the IBM Atheros a/b/g card today so that i could use the 802.11a network i've got set up at my apartment and have had nothing but problems since.
installing the card and driver was fine. now, however, every time i boot up there is a 1-2 minute wait from when windows logs in to the time the network indicators appear in the system tray. worse, the card is getting "limited to no connectivity" for EVERY wireless network in my apartment (802.11g and b AND a). i can't get online for the life of me.
i'm not sure where to start. as of now the only things i've tried are booting into safe mode to try and diagnose the problem.
does anyone have any suggestions?
thanks

make sure windows zero config is enabled if you're using XP.immaculate wrote:now, however, every time i boot up there is a 1-2 minute wait from when windows logs in to the time the network indicators appear in the system tray. worse, the card is getting "limited to no connectivity" for EVERY wireless network in my apartment (802.11g and b AND a). i can't get online for the life of me.
and i gotta ask, why have you got 3 different wireless networks in your apartment??

thx for the tip. i fixed the problem by just reformatting the comp. not a very efficient way, but it worked *shrugs*
ok yea, a bit of explaining about the a/b/g. i use 802.11A in my room (room is huge. you'd have to see it to believe it - thank god for master bedrooms in "luxury" apartments) because i tend to get a lot of interference either from my 2.4ghz cordless phone or BT headset or who knows what. my apartmentmate has an 802.11G router set up in our living room for him and his roommate. my neighbor has an unsecured 802.11B router on his cable modem (we have DSL) so i occasionally use his B to upload large files =)
