if your dell has VGA input then the answer is 'yes'.   the X300 can output up to 2048x1536 @ 32-bit over VGA.   unfortunately DVI is not possible.

How about the docking-station/port replicator? Can that also support 1900x1200? Most likely the Dell 2407 would be attached to the port replicator so that is an important question to know.

It most probably will support WUXGA on external, but since it is a USB or a WUSB docking station (instead of the standard one) I can't say for sure.

the on-board VGA port supports up to 2048x1536 @ 32-bit where the external VGA port (on the USB port replicator) supports up to 1280x1024 @ 32-bit.

So the USB-based port replicator VGA won't use the X3100, and will perform even slower for graphics tasks (or even Aero Glass)? Does anyone know what USB graphics chipset is used on this port replicator?

BTW is it confirmed that Lenovo will have a Wireless USB port replicator model?

Or does anyone know of a good 3rd-party Wireless USB port replicator?

Is that external resolution on the dock confirmed? I did see those slides that described the dock but I was hoping they were not totally accurate.

A 1280 x 1024 resolution would probably limit your use to a 15" or 17" monitor. I don't think many people are even purchasing that size any more so not sure how useful the dock would even be.

Another limitation of the dock I believe is that it cannot fully utilize a Gigabit ethernet port as it has to use a USB adapter which I believe only has a 480MB/s limit.

Hopefully soon to be released documentation will make everything more clear.

those specs came directly from lenovo documentation for press use.   the limitation is because of the USB bridge between the X300 and its dock.

given the specs, i don't see the dock being that useful.   i definitely won't be ordering one with mine.

edit: looks like the specs weren't correct after all. ;)

Looks like the final specs for the dock are 1400x1050. Too bad as that means we cannot run our 2407 24" monitors off the dock.

Here are more details and specs about the dock.

Belkin has an ExpressCard docking station that can drive up to 1600x1200.

I believe the x300 can be outfitted with an ExpressCard slot in the drive bay. So technically this could be used. It looks like a nicer dock than the IBM. Even has DVI output.
