Two monitors w/ultrabase

#1 Post by DougS » Mon Feb 25, 2008 6:35 pm

I am setting up the ultrabase so that an external keyboard and monitor is used, while at the same time the tablet's own screen can be used with stylus or touch.

The issue is that in this configuration, the tablet monitor and the desktop monitor have inverted displays. I have cofigured this in the display setup and created a scheme to save the configuration.

Here is my problem:

Each time I remove the tablet from the ultrabase and then reinsert (which I do frequently), the display switches back to the single display default. I have to click my way through the screens until I get to the multi-monitor option and then the Scheme setup, where I re-apply my special Scheme. This itself seems to have problems, however, because for some reason I still have to re-set the monitor rotation each time.

(Note: The display inversion is an issue because I am using the X61 in tablet format when connected to the ultrabase, and the ultrabase allows only one orientation because of all the wiring connections.)

I looked at the hot key options and did not see anything that allows me to associate a display Scheme with a specific hot key, or a hot key to rotate through all defined Schemes.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

X61 Mobile 965 graphics driver

#2 Post by DougS » Mon Feb 25, 2008 6:53 pm

A preliminary step I'm considering is updating the graphics driver.
The version on the tablet : 7.14.10.1244
The version on Intel's site: 7.14.10.1409

Any thoughts about updating at this level of change?

Thanks.

Have you looked into the MatroxDualHead I think its a popular choice with people hooking up two monitors and still being able to control them.
