manually adding palmrest fan into x61s?
Does anyone have the part number for the palmrest fan that comes with the X61s with WWAN?

No you can't. There was no spare adapter whatsoever.
My X61 DOES have a spare mini PCI slot though, however, it is no use when it comes to installing a second fan.

The unoccupied mini PCI-E slot could provide your fan with power. The mini PCI-E interface supplies both 1.5V DC as well as 3.3V DC
(see http://www.interfacebus.com/Mini_PCI_Express_Bus.html).

jketzetera,
Thanks for the info. However, I don't think I can connect to that since the actual connector/plug that the fan comes with is a three-pin plastic plug rather than 52 pin. Or, am I wrong?

Would you be kind enough to clarify what you meant by "fashion" my own connector? Thanks. You could fashion your own connector and connect only the power pins.

Well, I imagine you could purchase a Mini-PCI-E connector from some online store and do some soldering after looking up the pin chart.wgsohn wrote:Would you be kind enough to clarify what you meant by "fashion" my own connector? I'm not sure whether this the connector is actually available.
