I got two optical drives on my T21:
-Teac DW-224E CD-RW/DVD combo
-Matshita SR-8175 DVD (in ThinkPad Dock)
Both are attached to the secondary IDE Controller.
I already activated "DMA, if possible" within the hardware manager. Still I only get the PIO mode for both devices.
Unfortunately I can't find any specific drivers for the TEAC or Matshita, so I go to use the standard ones of Microsoft.
Has anyone got an idea how I can get the DMA mode activated?

You can try this utility from Dell:
Here
I've used it on a Sony so I know it works with others beside Dell.
