2Gb RAM in a T43: 2 x 1Gb or is 1 x 2Gb OK?

#1 Post by KuniD » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:44 am

About to order a new hard drive (either a 120Gb Samsung or WD) and some more RAM for my T43 1871.

It's currently running on a rather paultry 512Mb, want to bump that up to 2Gb. Should I go for 2 x 1Gb or will it recognise 1 x 2Gb SO-DIMM?

It's just a matter of cost; Adata 2Gb DDR2-5300 SODIMM - £24.95 inc VAT, just want to make sure it'll be compatible.

Cheers,

According to thinkwiki.org - the T43 has a max range of 2GB memory - so I would wager that it can be reached with 2x1GB instead of a 1x2GB stick.

Dimitri_P reported that 1x2GB would work, but if I remember correctly, it can't use 2x2GB.

I have a T43 with a single 2GB stick. I added another 512MB stick and it was recognized in the BIOS, but windows showed 2GB.

ONe thing is for sure, 2 X 1GB sticks will work.

I didnt notice much a difference between 1.5 and 2 GB. You might try that.
