Another added to the stable (A30)

#1 Post by Phazer » Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:22 pm

Well just picked up off of eBay an A30 with SXGA, 2652-34U. Man . . . I didn't know what I was missing. I love my T23's but this thing is nice. No internal wireless, but I'm used to that. After the 7200rpm upgrade on my T23, I can't wait to do that to this. Only 256 of mem but got a 512 stick coming from another member soon.

No, no, no...you still don't know what you're missing, until you add an A31p...or A30p at the very least...then we'll talk...

I have a house full of parts for these things...let me know if you need anything...

Congrats on your first three-spindler!

My daughter has an A22M, but this feels soooooo much more solid. I am in the market for a HDD bezel. I've just got my old T23 HDD in there, (it does have the cage on it). Other than that, I'm still like a kid on Christmas. I use mine as desktops so they don't hardly ever get moved. The palmrest fits me better than the T23. I don't know if it's the 512 or the 7200 in the T23, but it's still snappier than this. If i got another, the wife would leave me, it's too hard to hide them around the ouse as it is. :D

OH...BTW, this has two daughter cards in it and something bigger is missing. I DL'd the HMM but haven't had time to scan through it yet. I'm wireless LAN so if it's a modem, no biggie.

For the HD cover try eBay seller njucr. I've bought these from them, no problem, they're in New Jersey and ship pretty fast.

You're not missing anything. Mini PCI slot is empty, and it is supposed to be on your machine. One CDC is LAN, and the other one is modem.

Enjoy your new toy... :D

The big improvement over T23 is really the ATi over S3. The only improvement you need is a USB2.0 PCCard or a full dock with a 4 port USB PCI card. You SXGA+ could be a IDTech IPS TFT or a normal Samsung TFT.

The A30/A31s are really solid.

I second that recommendation. I just received three X2x caddy/cover/screw sets from them and they were shipped fast and work fine. They might be aftermarket covers as I don't see any FRUs or other part numbers on them and they don't exactly fit the opening of the base (0.5 mm gap in one place).
