3-cell vs 6-cell, size difference?

#1 Post by juhap » Wed Feb 27, 2008 10:09 am

If I remember right, some review pointed out that 6-cell battery would somehow "stick out" from the machine. I haven't seen this being mentioned in other reviews.

From tabook I found the dimensions for x300 with different batteries:
3-cell: (WxDxH): 12.5" x 9.09" x 0.73-0.92"; 318mm x 231mm x 18.6-23.4mm
6-cell: (WxDxH): 12.5" x 9.09" x 0.85-0.92"; 318mm x 231mm x 18.6-25.9mm

2.5mm of extra height does not sound much. Has anybody seen the 6-cell vs 3-cell live? Are there any other drawbacks than weight with 6-cell battery?

Hey Erik I have been trying to look for pics all over that would show how the system would look from the side with the 6 cell battery installed. I wonder if it would protrude from the the palm rest, kind of like the x60 but the opposite, if that makes any sense. here is a link that shows high res pics of the system on flickr....but im assuming its using the 3 cell battery

the 6-cell battery protrudes from the bottom just like the extended X60/X61 batteries.   the best way to describe it is that it will take the wedge shape of the base and make it sit flat on a desk.   make sense?

For 6 cell, the heights between mm and inch do not match, which one is the truth?

the metric measurements are correct.   the 6-cell battery hangs down enough to make the X300 slightly thicker.

I am not so sure. The battery is in the front right? It should increase the front thickness (18.6mm) not the rear.

it does make the front thicker.   the correct measurement with the 6-cell should be 318mm x 231mm x 25.9mm-23.4mm.

With 6 cell battery and putting the x300 on a flat table, is the front now thicker than the rear (height of rubber stands included)?
Thanks.
