I was recompressing a DVD using a Linux program (makes full use of the Core 2's MMX/SSE enhancements). The program running was using only one core to it's fullest and I have done this a lot.
However, something weird just happened. I left it alone for a while and returned to find the display completely out, not responding to any keys, and the Caps Lock light blinking.
I have never seen or heard of this happening before (on any ThinkPad or anything else running Linux).
Any ideas?
EDIT: Disregard. Further reading points to a Linux kernel panic, equivalent to a BSOD on Windows.
