bars shown when increasing/decreasing sound volume

#1 Post by Rahula » Wed Feb 27, 2008 4:35 pm

I recently installed XP Home SP2 on my T23 and have used the various updates from the Lenovo/IBM websites, but unable to get these to work:

1. show bars on LCD when increasing/decreasing volume or screen brightness.

2. When the T23 originally had Windows 2000, the black Thinkpad button next to the Esc key when pressed could show many useful Thinkpad configuring features.

Can you lead me to those downloads that can make the above work now that the T23 is on XP?

Thanks in advance.

Go to this site and plug in your type/model i.e., 2647-XXX (XXX is your model) in the blank for: Enter a product number.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... country=us

From there choose "Downloads and Drivers".

You can either use the "Thinkpad device driver matrix", the
"Refine search" drop down or just download from the date list provided.

Your looking for Onscreen and Configuration utility and I believe you'll need the Hotkey driver.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I installed the hotkey package but it did not work until after some fiddling. In case anyone else wants to know, you have go to the sub-directories: C:\Drivers\Win\Hotkey\SETUP.EXE then it works after restart. The IBM dowload instruction said to click Shfolder.exe which is incorrect.

You know, I wouldn't mind paying $40 if IBM released a CD with just T23 drivers for XP, although the T23 was originally sold with Win2000 on board. This would obviate the frustration of "drivers hunting" for so many hours for me.
