Google Earth + X31

#1 Post by xwasco » Wed Feb 27, 2008 7:21 pm

Hi all !!! this i my first post 8)

I need to know if someone use Google Earth (version 4) on an IBM Thinkpad x31, or if someone can install it and try to activate some layer (such as layer 3d) and tell me how does (and if) it work.

My doubt is about the graphic card.

I'm an happy powerbook g4 owner but now i need to have windows xp for work in my university (i'm a teacher and i need to use google earth in a course), so i've looking for a ibm thinkpad x31 (price and quality).

Thanks a lot for anyone who help me :D

bye bye

Actually...

It's under linux-- but since there are "real" (better) drivers for Windows, I'm sure it works just as good (if not better).

Buongiorno,

I've seen this :

http://earth.google.fr/support/bin/answ ... opic=13597

The X31 will run Google Earth. The Radeon M6 is limitated, but can run it.

I guess it will be a little slow.

I have been using Google Earth on my X32 with much success. Hardware is essentially the same as X31 (which I also used Google Earth on, but that was a year ago).

Should work fine. The X31 has an M6, Which is perfectly suited to most tasks that does not involve need for a shader unit (mostly games).

Pegasus - X31 (2672-CXU)
Taurus - X24 (2662-MQU)

it runs fine on my X31 with 512MB RAM, 4200rpm hard drive and 1.6MHz processor. i believe i tried activating 3D layers and it was running fine. You can max out RAM up to 2GB and install faster HD for it to run a bit faster :)
