comparasion Intel and Atheros Wifi card

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:38 pm

I have a T30 with an Atheros AR5006 XS and my friend has a similar T30 with an Intel 1000M - B2200BG. Today we were playing around to see which laptop would connect first to the Internet. It seems that the Intel was a little faster. Is that normal? Which of the 2 is better and why?

The Atheros, because it actually holds a distant connection instead of dropping it every 10mins or so. Well, that's my experience, anyways.

To each his/hers own obviously, but I strongly prefer Atheros, at least with my cheapo D-Link router. Much stronger signal, and holds it better than any Intel I've had...

Ditto. Atheros all the way. Almost never loose a connection.

The Intel 2915 in my T43 reconnects, on cue, every ten minutes.
