super serious problem: .NET frameworks are not installing

I am having a serious issue with me machine. Whenever I try to install a .NET framework, that is 2.0 or 1.1 hotfixes or 3.5 for vs2005, the setup.exe always hangs. I am left with open treads from DOTNETFX... installer, setup.exe and msiexec.exe threads that don't do anything. They're not processing just sitting there and hanging.

So, not only can't i update my .NET framework, I can't update windows through windows update or thinkvantage's system update.

What's wrong with my new T60 (8743-CTO)??

I develop software (almost) exclusively for the .NET Framework, so installing all versions (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5) is usually the first think I do. I've had no problems with installs on T60/p and T61/p machines.

Have you tried googling ".NET Framework install hang" and working through some of the suggestions? Sorry I can't be more helpful...

MicroSoft Support for installing the .NET stuff is free, so contact them
re your problem. I had a similar problem and they helped me fix it.

I had the same thing on the recent Service Packs for 2.0 and 3.0 - turned out my installs were corrupt. Uninstall them in reverse order then reinstall them in forward order, then install the SPs

If they won't uninstall from Add/Remove Programs Microsoft has an installer cleanup tool that you can download that will get rid of them.
