How to make old recordings digitalised?

#1 Post by beGi » Thu Feb 28, 2008 11:29 am

My friend has older video camera (around 3 years) that uses magnetic tape for recording. Now he wants to get a digital version of recorded stuff (on DVD’s), and he has asked me for help. Since video stuff is not field of my interest I need some advices. Mine R60 has S-video port (and I have necessary cables for connecting to camera), and I was wondering what is the procedure to get that done (also software advice are welcomed). Is that even possible since it is S-video out port? Thanks.

Bernard

I bought a USB capture device plus software from Pinnacle to do this.

Have a look at: http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/u ... are_UK.htm
IBM ThinkPad T43-2668-F5G,
T41p-2373-GEG & a T61-6466-9YG

Nope. S-Video is out only.... I have had the same dilemma. I bought a firewire PCI card, and stuck it in my dock. That probably won't help you though....hmm. next best thing might be to find one of those combo VCR/DVD burners, and plug in the camera via RCA cables. You're going to have to buy (unfortunately) a device that will capture the video, and convert it to digital. I picked up a USB capture device fairly cheap, and it worked with my T23 pretty well. newer USB 2.0 devices will be better though.

hope this helps!
