Thinkpad T42 LCD screen problem

#1 Post by mlli4 » Thu Dec 02, 2004 11:50 pm

I bought a T42 about 8 weeks ago. In the last two weeks, I find some dead pixels on my screen. But they are not really dead. Usually, after I rebooting the system, they will disappear. But after several hours, the dead pixels appears again. The worest thing is the position of dead pixel is not fixed. So far, there are at least 6 different positions on my LCD where dead pixel has appeared. Has anyone encountered this problem? Do you think IBM will repair my machine?

It's probably that weird UltraNav driver bug. IIRC, if you press the blue middle button, the 'dead pixels' go away. They're not really dead.

If the "dead" pixels are white, then it's the UltraNav thing. Do what brewt said, and they'll go away. It seems to happen to all of them.

Thanks a lot.

It is true, when I press the mid blue button, the white dead pixel disappeared. Thus, I uninstalled the UltraNav driver.

But the microsoft windows update program automatically download the driver and I installed it. It is really strange that windows updater knows to update IBM driver. I hope this update will help solve the 'dead pixel' problem.
