Wireless WLAN on my 570e?

#1 Post by linuxcomputers » Thu Feb 28, 2008 10:33 am

Could I install wireless WLAN on my 570e then? While it's open could I upgrade the graphic card.

I have incorporated a company called linuxcomputersolutions Ltd (Number 6376832). Any computers that go through my hands get Mandriva-Linux fitted. I own a A20m 500MHz, 320Mb, 40Gb and a 800MHz T21 that has 384Mb SDRAM Without a HD or a working screen

no go on the graphic card upgrade, but i believe you can replace the mini-pci card (lose 100baseT and modem functionality) with a 802.11 one. Search eBay for Thinkpad 570 wireless.

The graphics card I'm told is surface mount does that mean it's embedded, printed in the PCB. Some other route must them be found. I would like service manuals for the 570e I suppose circuit diagrams are out of the question.

Previous thread on Wifi for the 570 series; 570 WiFi thread

The graphics "card" is unfortunately a chip, soldered to the system board. It's about time they change that on TP's to a Mini-PCIe card or something so it CAN be upgraded.

Circuit diags are proprietary to IBM, none on the net, none here, promise. Information can be found in the Hardware Maintenance Manual, click here for the download.

I won't say it's impossible to install a dual modem/wifi card but it may not be easy........
