Vertical lines on LCD screen.

#1 Post by lutami » Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:18 am

I have searched and this is the nearest that showed out of (173 pages) but my lines are there constantly from boot..had one line a year or so ago and had the screen replaced...with it starting again i'm wondering if it could be something else.

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... d+assembly

I have the same problem only three lines have appeared...one...then another now the third has appeared...on the IBM site LCD Related Problems it shows...

Symptom...LCD screen has extra horizontal or vertical lines

Fru or Action, in sequence shows...LCD Assembly.

That's it...i just don't know what it means!!!! i've searched the site and can't find any more info on it.

So does anyone know...does it mean i need a screen replacement or something else can be done to rectify.

Cheers for any help :)

This should still be the LCD column driver and/or the FPC delaminating. The LCD has to be replaced.

Thanks...looks like another screen replacement...Again :(

Just checked and it was less then a year ago...second hand screen so i shouldn't be too disappointed it hasn't lasted very long!!!

Checked the hardware manual and it looks too much of a tricky job for me to do myself.

Will check out how much a repair service and a brand new screen will cost me...may be more cost effective just to buy another machine :?
