BatteryMiser have a mind of its own?

#1 Post by Gator GT40 » Sun Mar 02, 2008 10:49 am

R51 here and I plugged it in, turned it on and battery started charging from 80%. Seems reasonable since last time I started it up Friday night on battery alone, it went down to 78% or so.

So, I'm surfing the web and it works its way up to 99%.

All of a sudden it goes to 0%. Seriously, within seconds.

What causes this?

How old is the battery? How many cycles have you performed? Is it original IBM's or some third party battery?

Give ThinkVantage Power Manager a try, even your R51 is not listed and R51e is but it would get installed on your thinkpad:

Power Manager for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad.

Be sure to uninstall Battery maximizer first.

Oh !

I always thought they were two seperate things...i.e. that they were supposed to run together.

In fact, I always wondered what was the right 'order' to install them in...

So one of those -replaces- the other? Is that right?

Which is the more effective at reducing power-consumption?

PS: if you're running something like RMclock, should PM be removed? Should -both- of those be removed?

thanks!
