No internal microphone in R61i 7650-8DU?

#1 Post by Pyroraptor » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:07 am

So I've had my R61i for about two weeks now, and absolutely love it. Last night I downloaded skype and tried to "call" a friend of mine, but to my surprise it was getting no audio input. After a bit of digging around I found no microphone device, only the input jack, in windows. I also tried to record something in Audacity and it only got input from my (mostly dead) analog headset. Another good friend of mine has almost the exact same model R61i (I don't have the model number off hand) and his has a mic! I know that my old T40 has a mic, as does my sister's X30 and a friend's X61. Is there a problem or does mine simply not have an internal mic?!

I tried asking this on the lenovo forums, but got no responses.

Thanks

I don't think you do. I have a R61i and there is no mic built in, just an input for a mike. Just get a cheap mike, plug it in and that should do I would think. Don't know if there's any drivers to download to use it.

Good luck,
Ron

Yeah, that's what I'm just going to end up doing, I just have to get around to it.

What really confuses me though is that my friend's R61i *does* have one.

I don't know does your model has mic or not but here what happened to me..... My mic was turned mute by windows by default (so doubleclicking speaker icon in traybar next to clock pops up window that gives you mic control).... p.s on mine r60 there are two little holes bellow Fn key that mic uses....
