Port Replicator II (74P6734) and 02K6750 Power cord

#1 Post by bmorton » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:40 am

I've looked and hadn't found this question yet, so...

I have a Port Replicator II that I would like to use with a T61 and need to know if the port is compatible. I also have the matching power cord. Both outputs are 16.0 V / 4.5 A.

I recall an IBM hardware engineer saying something about either the input or output being okay under a certain range to RUN the machine, but that the power cord would not RECHARGE the battery, but that was ages ago and I can't remember what he said.

From some of the things I've seen posted it sounds like the T6X models are a bit different than the older models (I have an R51), so I suspect they won't work together.

I'm hoping someone can explain that again. I have access to an "IBM junk shop" of sorts that has used equipment really cheap, though it's hit and miss. I'd like to get something for my niece that will work on her T61.

Thanks,
Beth

The T6x models use a different dock and a different power supply from earlier T series Thinkpads, so you wont be able to use them.

The whole "6" range of Thinkpad models uses the same 20 Volt power supply voltage, but none of the earlier 16 Volt power supplies are suitable for use with them... and the plugs are different anyway.

Cheers,

Bill
