Strange high-pitched noise coming from T61

My new T61 intermittently makes a strange high-pitched noise. It varies in volume. I can't really pinpoint the source, but it usually goes away if I move it to a different location (sometimes if I tilt it at a specific angle it'll make the noise, and then will stop at any other angle)

this is kind of confusing (and slightly worrying). Anyone have any ideas?
