Recommend me a non nonsense *beefy* case for my T61
Recommend me a non nonsense *beefy* case for my T61
T61 - 14.1 non widescreen.
I just need a very durable case for it. It's for one of my project managers who rides in his truck all day and spends all of his day in the field. Doesn't have to be pretty----just durable and is nicely padded. Any recommendations fellas.
I came across this

That's exactly what I was about to recommend.chefwong wrote:T61 - 14.1 non widescreen.

I've used the Pelican 1490 for five years. The features and padding are fantastic. It's almost bullet-proof (but if someone's shooting at me, I'm just going to drop my case and run anyway . . . ) I also don't see an "unconditional lifetime guarantee" for the booq as I do for the Pelican (though the Pelican warranty doesn't cover "shark bite, bear attack and children under five"; at least they're honest!). Anyway, it's another option. Also discussed here.

Well, that's an altogether different type of case. I guess the Booq cases are more ultrasleeves than major cases. They are sleek and formfitting, yet are rugged too. (Ballistic nylon)
The OP mentioned it himself, so that kind of sleek case may be his preference, but that Pelican looks like it could survive a plane crash.

i just got back ffrom a deployment with my T61 and a Pelican and had no problems. It kept the dust out no problem (when it was closed). Its a little on the heavy side when carring long distances but from vehicle to vehicle or short walks, no problem. Even had space for an extra battery.

I guess I read 'beefy', 'very durable', 'doesn't have to be pretty' and figured the Pelican fit the bill . . .Radioguy wrote:Well, that's an altogether different type of case. I guess the Booq cases are more ultrasleeves than major cases.
