"shift" "alt" and "ctrl" displ

#1 Post by vastag » Tue Mar 04, 2008 2:27 pm

Hi - I have a thinkpad x61t. When it's in the docking station, whenever I press "shift" "alt" or "ctrl" a little pop-up window tells me that key is being pressed. The laptop does not do this when it's out of the docking station. I've looked all over the control panel in vista and can't find any setting.

Any ideas how to switch it off? Driving me nuts! Thanks.

I'd post a screenshot but the posts don't seem to allow images other than urls.

A belated Welcome to thinkpads.com!

I'm not sure where this "feature" is being controlled as I don't have much experience with Vista or the X61t. That said, here's a general comment about the ins and outs of posting an image:

- you cannot upload an image directly to this site
- you must provide your own image hosting using one of the many free services or perhaps you have a small amount of web space provided by your ISP
- inline image should only be included when YOU are the originator of the post/thread. Why? Forum decorum requests that you place a *PIC* or similar notice in the first subject line
- images can be placed inline with the format
- important!: please keep the size reasonable; this generally means a filesize of less than 50KB and smaller than 640 x 480 pixels

And finally, here's a bump to your post...

"Shift" "Alt" and "Ctrl" is an awkward combination to which my X61 tablet docked in X6 Ultrabase does not respond to anything.

On the other hand the symptom you're describing is likely of StickyKeys:

StickyKeys.

To disable StickyKeys, go to accessibility options in the Control panel of Windows and uncheck StickyKeys.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
