T61 - Recurring blue screen when connecting to new networks

#1 Post by Provable » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:04 pm

I'm currently running a T61 with XP - SP2, fully updated with all patches from MS as well as all recommended and critical updates from the IBM software update service. (Yes, I am running the latest BIOS, power drivers, etc.)

Every time I remove my physical network connection and plug in a new network connection, the machine blue screens. This problem does not occur when switching between wireless networks, only wired.

I can recreate this issue on a wide variety or hard-wired connections at several different (unrelated) offices I visit, so the problem certainly seems to be my laptop and not something on the address resolution/switch/networking side of the house.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas on a fix?

are you using access connection to manage it? It might be causing the BSODs. Try uninstalling that and see how it goes from there.

I had that thought as well. I uninstalled Access Connections last week, but the problem persists.
