New T42 being born :) & Q re relo prog

#1 Post by Lotek » Fri Dec 03, 2004 5:33 pm

Thanks to all the great advice & input from you guys (esp in re LCD size & res), I just ordered a 2378DXU through the stockholder's program. Gestation rumored to be 2-4 weeks but the salesman said it's apt to ship sooner.

I plan to play with it a bit before loading my data files, to make sure it is a keeper. Assuming it is, can anyone recommend the best way to copy progs & data from a W2K desktop w/Ofc 2000Pro over to the T42 w/XPP? Also, will XPP automatically run the W2K progs in compatible mode or do I need to tweak each one? (It ought to be interesting to see how well this old brain can switch back & forth between W2K & XP.)

T'anx!

Best thing to do would be to install Office 2000 onto your new Thinkpad. Then transfer your documents either over a network or by burning them onto a CD.

Windows XP is based on Windows 2000 so there shouldn't be any problems running any programs. If you prefer the Windows 2000 interface, the Windows XP desktop can be switched to Windows "Classic" mode so it will look pretty much like Windows 2000.

You wont have any compatability problems from a W2k to XP switch, you wont have to do anything special.
