T43 2nd drive adapter problem

#1 Post by cmarti » Wed Mar 05, 2008 7:37 pm

I just receive an third party adapter for my T43p, here is a link:

Sata 2nd HDD Caddy Adapter For IBM Thinkpad T43 R50 R51

It's nice and fits real good in the slot, but the computer doesn't recognize the drive and i've tried with two different drives one WD 250Gb and one fru#37T2713 toshiba 80Gb drive.

Light turns on on the adapter but no joy the computer does not see the drive.

I remember seen in my X60 a option for compatability mode for HD's but i don't see that on my T43.

I already contacted the seller... Any ideas?

I bought an identical item from the same seller and have used it in a T43p, a T42p and a T42. Do you have a jumper set on the HD? If so, what?

Yes. It's SATA. I've used it many times. (I also have 2 PATA adapters) My brain shorted out for a second when I asked about the jumpers. Is the drive visible under control panel/administrative tools/compouter management/disk management? It would act that way if it isn't initialized yet.

I hate when things like this happens, you know you buy something and it doesn't work! :x

Soooo... it means that my adapter is faulty.

I will wait for the seller to respond and get a replacement.

Thanks richk

Got the replacement and it worked perfectly, no problem fitting it and the transfer rate is very fast. I'm now using a WD250gb 5,400rpm drive it the adapter.
