Help! Music CDs not recognized w/ T42

I have a T42 Thinkpad. All of a sudden, it will not read or recognize and music cds in my DVD combo drive. If I put a DVD in, it will read it, but it won't read or recognize music CDs.

I tried to connect two different stand alone CD ROM drives, but it won't read music CDs on those either.

I use this computer to rip and listen to music on CDs that I have purchased. I have to find a way around this problem.

Please help if you can!
