Did I just get a free t61p?

#1 Post by GIFF » Thu Mar 06, 2008 3:56 pm

I ordered my T61p 02/28/08 There was a problem with the payment, my debit card only has a $500 a day withdrawal amount. I didn't know this, so my debit card got denied. I had to call my bank and up the daily limit, then call back lenovo the next day(03/01/08). So payment cleared Monday (03/03/08). $1099.04 was deducted from my available balance. Then I had about $65 for the next few days until today my available balance shot up to $1148.xx.

So what's going on??! I'm sure I'm not actually getting my money back, can anyone shed some light on what happened? Has anything happened like this to you?

They put a 'hold' on the funds while they tried to clear them so they were not in your 'available balance.' Since the transaction did not clear, the funds were not withdrawn. You haven't paid for a machine - so my bet is they won't ship you one.

No you didn't get a free computer. You should call your bank and clear up the problem.
Work: T42p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60p (XP, UXGA IPS); T60/61 FPad (Win 7, UXGA IPS).

Yes, you did get a free computer. :)
I've also gained free stuff with bank errors. Never had problems. Enjoy.

Never had any problems, but I guess it's, at least, morally wrong, to act like nothing happened...

And deleting this thread would, indeed, be a clever idea. :)

I'm pretty sure this is Lenovo's fault not my bank's.
I'm sure it will be withdrawn soon. But how do I delete this thread? If a mod sees this just delete it please.

this sort of thing happens from time to time..

fact is the wheels of lenovo and/or your bank will turn and when this error ginds in the gears something will happen..

either they will finally charge your debit card or failing that they will send you a bill..

or the bank will release the funds to lenovo as the whole issue is a simple bookkeeping thing..

you will wind up with a really nice thinkpad (WITH a valid warrranty) and a clear conscience..

locking this thread since we do not have anything further to say except "there is no free lunch"..
