Hello,

I'm very close to purchasing a 15" T61p but I seem to be stuck on the screen resolution... WSXGA+ or WUXGA... WUXGA or WSXGA+... I keep jumping back and forth!

Originally, I was leaning towards WSXGA+ because I will be coding a lot and the larger font would probably be easier on the eyes. But the extra screen real estate is also very appealing. So there you have it the crux of my dilemma.

I was also wondering about WUXGA having only 175 nits while WSXGA+ has 200 nits. Can anyone comment on whether they think WUXGA to be a bit dark?

I would appreciate people's comments about one or the other. I know that this is really a personal choice but I think your comments would be helpful in helping me with mine.

15" or 14" screen? I like the WSXGA+ on my 15.4" T60; I kind of think that WUXGA might be overkill on a 15 (and certainly would be on a 14).

Recommend WSXGA. I have the combo you are considering....and it is great. WUXGA is a little hard on the eyes unless you are younger than 25.

By the way, with either screen, you can use the CTRL ++ for increasing font size dependent on your application. Quite useful.....in Mozilla font not only increases in font size but switches to bold at a certain point.

I assume that I've got WUXGA. My native resolution is 1920 x 1200. My wife hates it because the font is so small, but like you, I am using it for coding and I love all the real estate.

At the office, I have it in a dock, and I have a 1600 x 1200 21" monitor plugged into the DVI port, so during the day I code on the external monitor, and do email & web surfing on the laptop screen, or move things between the two. Seems to work very well.

I have also tried taking the dock home, and plugging my 1080p TV into the DVI port (via an HDMI to DVI adapter) and it worked like a charm. Would make for a nice media center PC if I did that sort of thing.

I'd go for max real estate/highest pixel density.

As you are already lugging around the heavier 15" form factor, might as well get more pixels.

You can always enlarge the fonts either via Windows or the individual apps when you need to (ie as you get older LOL).

I have a 14" 1400x1050. Yes the fonts is a tad small but as it is a laptop I sit closer to it anyway...
