What´s the best machine you can buy now?

#1 Post by tomkit66 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 12:27 pm

Hi all!

I was wondering if someone can help anwering the above question?

I have a T43p and having some problems lately (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=58431)

If Lenovo can´t fix it I will ask them for a replacement.
If they want a price premium I would do it but have no idea which of the new models compares to mine when it was new and state of the art 3 years back.

Thanks
Tom

It's a pretty tough question to answer the way you've phrased it...

An all-rounder like T43p would be best replaced with T61p...

Then again, depending on your needs, the new X300 might be interesting, it's definitely a "state of the art" machine...

A little more detailed description of your needs would certainly help other forum members chime in... :D

Just my $0.02...

They can fix it - they have replacements for pretty much every part. They will just swap out the main board if they have to.

Okay, thanks....sorry that I was not clear enough! The X300 must be a wonderful device but I need a good GPU as well for some Photoshop work and using two 22" TFT´s with the mini docking station.

So I guess the T61p will come close to the T43p!

Thanks
Tom

I hope they will ... it seems that there is really a problem with the CPU and GPU cooling ... that´s why the fan is running at 4200 all the time to keep the GPU temp just below 80C

I had a similar problem with my first T42. They replaced the fan module and it fixed it. They can pretty much fix anything on a machine that is still under warranty and they tend to do it no matter the cost. They know that most Thinkpad users just want their machine back, quickly, just like it was before it broke.
