770x Question
I am going to be buying a new laptop, currently i have a Thinkpad 770X and would like to sell it. My question is about what to ask, i really have no idea what they are worth. It is a 770X P2 300, 320mb ram, 8.1gb hd, wired pcmcia nic, and wireless. and the 14.1" screen. no physical damage in mint condition, screen has no dead pixels. new battery. oh and DVD-ROM, any advice would be appreciated.

mr thinkpad
the grand ole 770
my personal thoughts on the 770x is that it is a great computer for any needs. I think with the accessories you listed i would put the asking price in the range of $400-450.
Hey, I think the 770 series are fantastic machines myself, but $400-450 USD is way over the current value for an unmodified 770X today in my opinion.
Admittedly, the value of a used item varies widely from one place to another and can be different from one day to the next, but I would argue that one fair estimate of the current value can be pulled up simply by checking the "Completed" listings for similar items on eBay. And it looks to me like in the past month no 770X went for over $300 USD, and the average going price was actually less than that. Mint condition might hike the price a bit, but still, $400 seems way out there to me.
Phil.

I agree with everything posted above with only one exception. The average price for a similar machine on eBay (Assuming you DO have an Enhanced Video Adapter Card in it to go with the DVD Drive) is approx $300. I have at times seen them gor for $400.00 to $450 with 30 day Warranties and New Batteries.
The ones in the #250 - $300 Range all have Dead Batteries in them.
I would estimate your $250 - $300 computer WITH A NEW BATTERY to be worth $350 - $400... Again Assuming you DO have the EVA Card in it.If not... well, it probably a even trade off for the new battery and your back to the $250 - $300 range.
