Okay folks - this one has been driving me up the wall.
It seems that for some strange reason I cannot get the HDD out of my X41 Tablet. The pen is out, I took the retainer screw off, I even pulled the top bezel off, but for some reason it was as if the HDD is glued inside or something. I don't think the NBD Onsite EZServ will help me in this case as IBM/Lenovo asserts that the drive is a customer replaceable part.
The drive is fine (just slow and rattles like a combination lock)
Any ideas what my next move should be?

Regardless of CRU, they would.ragefury32 wrote:snip....I don't think the NBD Onsite EZServ will help me in this case as IBM/Lenovo asserts that the drive is a customer replaceable part....snip
Since your machine is still under warranty and the HDD sounds defective as it makes noises so I assume you were about to ask for a replacement, you can also ask for a technician's assistance from the support while reporting the problem.
However if you insist on doing it yourself then watch the video to gather something new:
Hard drive removal movie - ThinkPad X41 Tablet.

Re: Getting a stuck HDD caddy out of the X41 Tablet
Well, what I mean is that I cannot get the drive out no matter how hard I've tried, and I can't figure out what to do in this case. IBM does not and do not send technicians out for small customer replaceable stuff like hard drives, and I have no idea if sending it in to Depot will do me much good...ryengineer wrote:Regardless of CRU, they would.ragefury32 wrote:snip....I don't think the NBD Onsite EZServ will help me in this case as IBM/Lenovo asserts that the drive is a customer replaceable part....snip
