External Display Settings and Docking

well i broke down and bough a ultrabase and dvd/cd-rw. i got everything new shipped for like 165 so i didnt want to pass it up, so its on its way


i had my samsung 172s lcd hooked direct to the laptop tonight and messed around a bit.

is there a way that went i dock it, it will default the external display to 1280*1024, or can i preset schemes so when its docked it will change when i go into the ati controls with out have to change everything because it gives me the option for schemes , but im not sure u can have different schemes wtih different resolutions. i run a regular 1024 on the 12.1 display

so if i remember correct when i dock the computer then close the lid it goes to sleep. how can i make it so it will not go to sleep, but when i close it plugged in to teh ac or on the battery it will then sleep?

and is it safe to run the lid closed for a long time, or will it get to hot?
