The branding confusion that is intel

#1 Post by gator » Sun Mar 09, 2008 12:55 pm

Don't get me wrong, I very much admire what intel has done post P4 era in terms of processors and chipsets, but they went overboard in branding recently. There are codenames for processors and chipsets, real names and THEN we have intel brand names. I get so confused when reading articles as to what is being talked about ... I find this wiki page very useful:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_codenames

The only downside is that this list is not chronological. If time permits I am going to submit a chronological version to wikipedia.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

How about a NEW name for the mobile chipset that makes sense and sounds electro-flashy...

Intel Notebookatronic2008-4Core

or...

Intel Mobile2008-4Core

or...

help Intel out, people :) What kinds of names can you think up?
Lenovo ThinkPad X220
i5-2410M | 8GB RAM | 240GB Crucial M500 | IPS 720P | BT 3.0 | Intel 1000 | Windows 8.1
yes, the 9mm SSD fits in the X220

Past ThinkPads: X300, T400, X61s, T41, X31, A21m, T23 (x2)

I think " notebookatronic is a little long, but I like the "mobile" one. It seems to make it easier for some of these people who no absolutely nothing about computers. ( and what thry are made of.)

How this?

- Intel Mobile 2008

- Intel Stationary 2008

- Intel Performance 2008

- Intel Family 2008

- Intel Prestige 2008

- Intel Performance Mobile 2008

- Intel Family Mobile 2008

- Intel Prestige Mobile 2008

- Intel Anniversary Edition 2008

The new line of Intel processors, easy to understand and find your direct needs. :D

That's really nuts. I'm sure it's entertaining for people working at Intel, but for use consumers it's worse than useless.
