IBM or Bust, but where is Bust?

#1 Post by evo VIII » Sun Mar 09, 2008 5:55 pm

Hey, hi all,

wow, its been nearly 4 years since i'm proud owner of my X41 (252654U).
It was just before the Lenovo acquisation so i guess its safe to say that its genuine IBM. 8)

We've had some good days carrying her around in her skin tight sleeve, and some bad days while trying to format to clean state and than reformat to factory than back again and again, with 6 recovery cds, 2 norton ghosts, an xp cd and various "ultimate boot" cds.

I really liked her lying on her base and making me easy to use external monitor kb and mouse, felt her joy when i inserted various cds to her optical drive, and sliding my middle finger on her most private parts was the first thing i did for a long time after opening her lid. ;)
Last but not least, one should not forget to mention that nearly full"Double D"size keyboard and that finger itching red dot right in the middle where she really start to give you pleasure while surfing with her around.

Sure i hated the tickling hd, heated palm rests, slow boot and closure times and not so bright display, but they were never managed to come between us.

However, times have passed and as everything beautiful, my girl has gettin a little old or, actually, i'm greedy and i'm getting bored of her.
There are new models up, the small brain of hers do not keep me occupied anymore, i need more than beauty now, i've grown up you see :P

I' ve looked around, there are three new models i guess, x61 - x61s and x300 or somthin..

Searched here and on internet and i see that if one wants 12" there is only x61 and x61s, and the most dissapointment is because of Lenovos customer relations and the fact that x61's come with vista which is not working with every program and so..

I'll be installing XP so thats no problem, and in 4 years i have not had any hardware problems with my X41 so is it safe to think that X61 might be problem free if by chance i do not buy a lemon, or is Lenovo started to produce thinkpads with lower quality standarts than IBM so that they are keep breaking down..?
And does X41s ultrabase has the same sockets with x61s so that i can keep using it without having to buy x61s base..?

And for the patient few who read till here, the last question, what say you about vaio TZ series, i mean forget the price, but build quality and hardware. I only know that the screen is nice.
After years of using the same kinda notebook, i do not want to buy nearly exactly the same model with just an upgraded insides.
I mean out with the old wife in with the new, catch my drift..

I wouldn't have found that amusing even if I was still in junior high. Watch it.

No need to get upset mate, i dont see any foul words there..

Just didnt want to bore you with the same format of questions and same decision dilemna inquiries so have added a little spice..

But, as you are the boss and you think that someone might get upset, i'll try to stay more within "the limits" but i'll probably be more booring too..
Hope that clears up the unnecessary tension.

have a nice day.

ps: i'm 35 and married, and i dont think a highschooler can get my problem/sarcasm anyway, not unless they are married for some time..
