Working now-fixed itself?- DST no workee with XP sp3?
Working now-fixed itself?- DST no workee with XP sp3?
Gee, I sorta expected to see the correct time on my T60 with XP SP3 containing all the updates & patches. But noo....
DST works fine on the same machine with Vista SP1.
Anybody else have a XP DST prob?
(I'm sure this is yet -another- Microsoft conspiracy to force us all over to Vista) -he said in his paranoid, conspiratorial voice-
UPDATE: mar 9 2008 833pm CST. I can only guess that it took a while for the time correction to work its way to my machine via the 'Net. Or perhaps a cold boot was necessary. But, magically, it is working now with no other input from me.
(another magical Microsoft Mystery solved...)

DST requires a time zone patch. XP SP1 (no further updates) will not change time properly. You need the time zone patch with it. XP SP2 all patched will work just fine. Both my machines (Desktop and Laptop changed time properly today). SP3 I don't know about, but it seems strange that Microsoft would undo what has already been done. Always possible, though.
Search Microsoft for tzedit. Download it and run it. It allows you to change the time zone, now and going forward. Also, open a case with Microsoft and complain (loudly). This should not have happened. ... JDH

If you are daft enough to install Release Candidates of Service Packs, you are just asking for problems.
Even after the official release comes out, you should still wait another two months or so, to find out what SP3 breaks, rather than makes.
NO sympathy for you guys whatsoever!

While I am not into installing Release Candidates on production machines, I *do* try Service Packs on production machines within days of coming out. I would not want to wait 2 or 3 months.
Phool@round: Please consider going to microsoft.com -> Contact Us -> then look for the problem area. I report stuff like this and I always get a case number and some kind of support back. It is worth a try. They probably know about this by now, and they may provide a patch. ... JDH

Thanks JD, already corrected the issue. Pretty easy fix - just cold boot. RBS, did you wake up on the crabby side of the bed today? You just called everyone who's bug testing RCSP3 "daft"? HELLO! I simply agreed with the OP that they weren't imagining the DST bug. I didn't ask for sympathy, maybe cash but never sympathy.......LOL.

I'm completely unable to attach any logic to a cold boot vs running tzedit to solve this silly buglet. But, the machine is showing the correct time now now, and it did not work right after installing and setting tzedit.
Just another Microsoft Silly Thing, I guess. I will just let tzedit sit and if there are problems 6 months from now I may mess with the whole deal again.
By then I may have resigned myself to running Vista full time on the machine anyway. No probs with DST on Vista.
I've got Vista running pretty snappy by now. To my eyes, Vista actually paints a nicer screen on my T60 compared to XP and Office 2007 apps open significantly faster, too.
Vista runs a teeny bit slower, and a tad warmer, but other than that, I'm in Happy Camper Land with Vista and may make a committed jump to it.
