at batteryrebuild.com it costs $50 to rebuild oem IBM battery to oem specs. they claim to use brand name cells and their success rate is over 92% (they refund $ if it does not work)
I was wondering if anyone here used these guys. chinese batteries cost only 10-20$ cheaper on feebay and have worse quality compared to oem's...
any feedback?
Did anyone use batteryrebuild to rebuild X30 X31 battery?
Yes, actually I just used them to rebuild my x31 battery. I am happy with the work, and the performance of the battery so far. I did not expect the "case" of the battery to be perfect when I got it back, but in truth, it really does not look bad. Only a few small pry marks along some of the seams.
The worst part about the whole thing was that it took them about 6 weeks to do mine. So, if you do go this route... I would take this into account. But, if you can be patient, I think you would be satisfied.
I can get about 3 hours out of this battery now.

I'm actually going to do an experiment with my X31 battery. I'm going to take the cells out of a T41 battery and place them in the X31 case. The X31 case is quite easy to open... I use a guitar pick and slide it along the edges. The batteries are held in by double-sided tape and careful removal is required so no damage is done to the circuit board. Basically, you just have to be careful when working on the battery.
I'm currently waiting for the T41 battery (new? dtd 2006, off ebay) to be delivered, and plan to do photos and a writeup and then post a web page (geocities). It'll take some time, but that's my plan. I also ordered another X31 battery (used on ebay) for experimentation. If all goes well, I may try to get my hands on more T41 type batteries and see what I can do. Like I said though, it'll take some time, so don't look for anything in the very near future. By the way, the new T41 battery cost me $47 shipped, so I thought... what the heck, just try it!
I've been doing my own battery replacements in my Milwakee drill for years, so I don't forsee any real problems cropping up. We'll see!
