R50e external screen max resolution?

Hi,

A friend of mine owns a thinkpad R50E with the Intel chipset for graphics.

I'm considering to buy her a present - a 20" wide screen monitor with resolution of 1680x1050.

So I was wondering: can R50E support such a resolution without any problem? any gotcha's or issues I should consider prior purchasing a monitor with this resolution?

1600x1200 is max resolution but that's a 4:3 aspect ratio and not a wide screen 16:9 format.
