And they're on eBay already...

In the intent of full disclosure, I have absolutely nothing to do with the auction in question...

Did you look at the other items he has for sale? Can you say, "and now for something completely different"......

You are hereby ordered to walk the silly walk for 1 week :)

Coming back to the topic, there are quite a few X300s on ebay ... I really wonder who buys these machines from ebay US instead of lenovo directly - the ebay prices are not low by any standards ...
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX

Some buyers from oversea probably, you know the US currency is now low, plus the price oversea is not as friendly as in the US, it might costs you $4000 or even $5000 for this machine.
Asides of that, at least you know they have them in stock, god knows when you will get your order from lenovo?

Yes, and no. It's worth the shot if someone can bring it to you in your country. In the EU, you have something like 15-20% duties when importing (and US customs are known for being very thorough at custom processing...), so you lose the advantage given by the low dollar.

If I were in the US/Canada, I could save minimum 30% on electronics and laptops.

I have purchased several ThinkPads from eBay sellers. One BIG advantage is you can have the unit delviered overnight instead of waiting weeks! I have never had a problem and the full warranty was intact.

You do need to be careful who you purchase from but if you need a X300 NOW, you can have it tomm.

T42P, T60 and T61P all from ebay without issues (two different sellers)

wait..!

did anyone notice THIS:
Q: do this have a DVD driver? Mar-10-08
A: No - it has the plastic 'bezel' in it's place. I configured it this way to save weight.
sounds to me like a lie..
to save weight..
yeah, sure..

i dare to say that if i had buyers at $2650 + shipping for a new X300 or two or three, with no DVD drive i could deliver within 2 days..
though it might be hard to find one withOUT the DVD drive..

bill, it could be a CTO model that the guy decided to try and flip on ebay instead of return.   it's easy to config a CTO X300 with the travel bezel -- just not logical.   before buying i'd want to get the MTM/serial to do a parts lookup and confirm its legitimacy.

There is also another reputable Thinkpad seller/dealer on Ebay with five or six X300 auctions, selling 20-30 different X300 units.

The caveat, which is in very small and inconspicuous text, 10 DAYS for shipping.

For that, you may as well order direct.

I think the only way to get AT&T WWAN right now is to custom order one since I don't think a pre-configured unit with the AT&T HSDPA card has shipped. I don't even see one listed in the current TABOOK. It only lists 3 Verizon WWAN models, but nothing with an AT&T card. Supposedly I should have a few of the Verizon WWAN models in here by tomorrow since they finally cleared customs today, and given how much demand and limited supply there is, they'll probably disappear before the weekend is out.

At present the only way to get AT&T WAN is to install it yourself. There are no X300s currently available with AT&T WAN. If you're comfortable opening the computer it's a relatively easy install. You can get the AT&T card from Dell as well as other suppliers for about $200. Now getting the X300 may be more of an issue. I grabbed a couple recently and had one sold within the hour and the other is my own personal toy.

Actually you can now configure to order on from Lenovo Direct with the AT&T WWAN-although you would be delaying delivery for up to 4 weeks if you choose this option.

How are you getting those to work on ThinkPads? Doesn't the BIOS show the infamous "1802" message, telling you to use only IBM/Lenovo Network Cards?

I'd like to get the Dell Wireless 5520 (by Novatel) but I won't without hearing from someone's experience that they'll work on ThinkPads (I am getting an X300)
