TP recommendations
TP recommendations
I'm looking to buy my very first TP and I have a little list of the ideal characteristics and intended usage. I'm not quite sure which model, current or near future, would be best for me. Which one might be the right choice?
Characteristics;
light weight - I don't want a brick
reasonably sized screen
good battery life - hot swappable not essential, but light charger is
good warranty and service agreement worth the paper written on!
durable and reliable
Usage;
web browsing
email
office documents
I'm not particularly computer hardware savvy and so your knowledgeable advice will be carefully and respectfully listened to.
Thank you, Jason.

Depending on the weight/size factor, here are my possible recommendations:
If you require a full-blown laptop with 14" LCD and can tolerate 5lb or thereabouts: T43, T60.
If you want an ultraportable: X41, X60/s, X61/s (12" LCD, 3-3.5lbs)
If you need a widescreen: Z61t (14" WXGA+, about 4lbs)
Most of these should have some IBM/Lenovo warranty remaining, which is the only warranty that you should consider IMHO.
I'm sure others will chime in, this is just my $0.02...

A price range would help here. So would approx. screen size.
12" will save lbs. over 14" units. 14" units will save about one lb. over 15" units.
ThinkPads range from 2.7 lbs. to over 7 lbs.
New, ThinkPads start under $500 and run over $5,000.

Sorry, I didn't notice the OP's location. I, too, will assume that costs are lower in the U.S. However, the generally broad price range and other information may be useful. Or the U.S. pricing may encourage a little tourism
