i hate this auto-dim "feature"

#1 Post by ZAGNUT » Tue Mar 11, 2008 1:33 pm

can't stand to see the display on my T30 go dim when i unplug the ac adapter and really don't care if it saves me two minutes on the battery life. looked for a way to disable this in software but can't find any, maybe someone knows a way?

if none exists then i suppose there is a control line to the inverter that could be cut but then that would most likely disable the manual brightness control as well. this feature i do find useful every once in a while.

any thoughts?

Don't have a T30, but this works on a T23:

- access BIOS
- select Config
- go to the Display section
- change Brightness to High
- save changes and reboot

thanks, i didn't even think about the bios but it makes perfect sense as the machine was doing this right after a fresh OS install and before any IBM drivers were installed.

will give it a try a bit later and see how it goes.

ok, disabling this in the T30 is the exact same process as for the T23 posted above. i'm happier now, thanks.

also hoping this works for the old 600 i just got but will have to get it back together first. that thing goes really dim when unplugged.
