T23 with a T40 LCD?

#1 Post by lithium726 » Tue Mar 11, 2008 9:51 pm

Is this gonna work? I have a T40 with a dead board and a T23 with a dead LCD, I'd rather have my T23... Panel in the T23 is LP141x10 and the panel in the T40 is LTN141XA

I just don't want to brick the T23's mainboard too.

[censored]. nevermind. different connector on the back of the LCD.

Look around for a junk T20-1-2, (that shouldn't be hard). I lucked out, I had a screen for a T20 and needed one for an R40, IT WORKED!!!.

There is quit a bit of info, (along with confussion) as to whether they would even swap. Unfortunately, most of it is on eBay when you get looking at ads that say: "it also replaces" type statements.

Ray gave me this link which showed some data specs which included pinout info.

Neither screen is on the page posted with .pdf files...... but they are listed under the manufacture pages (Phillips and Samsung) but without .pdf's. Great resource site, I've bookmarked it! I think it's too big a series jump for the connectors though. Maybe a T30 -> T23 but not T40 -> T23.

I know for a fact that R30 LCD for example works on T23.

Thats good to know, because the backlight is going out on my R40, and I am going to try to replace it...BUT, if I screw up, I know that I can count on one of my T2x LCDs as a backup! Thanks!

I wouldn't say it's 100%, maybe 80%. I read on here that someone smoked a mobo by using the wrong LCD. I actually found most of my info on eBay, (like that's a valid source). While searching for the manufacturer number, when you scrolled through the descriptions, it showed what would/was all the interchanges along with other makes of laptops. I really didn't make a desicion to plug this one in until I kept seeing many, many references to this. The one thing I couldn't verify was whether inverters were interchangable, that was the biggest unknown for me.
