Who makes 14.1" SXGA+ TFT on a T61p?

Is it Philips or Samsung? Or could it be either?

The part number is 8891CTO, but, as I haven't actually placed the order yet, I don't have a serial number.

Thanks.

Well you are spoilt for choice here - according to the T61 HMM (Jan-2008) here's the list:

Hydis - FRU: 42T0433
Samsung - FRU's: 42X4582 & 42X4687
TMD - FRU: 13N7063

It seem's there are two FRU entries for the Samsung, wonder what the difference is (if any at all?)

"Choice" is the key word here. I wish I had a choice, but I imagine I don't since I'm placing an online order. Maybe I should phone and hope that a friendly sales rep is able to let me choose.

At any rate, thanks very much for the info.

I tried with the phone rep and my T61p, and two people told me "you get what they have to give you." It just depends whats on the factory floor and what the technician building the notebook grabs at that time.

In the past, people got around this by ordering about 3 computers, receiving all of them, then cherry-picking the model they want to keep. I suppose Lenovo got wise to this and no longer allows "a free" return within 30 days (now it appears to be 21 days with a 15% restocking fee!). So no more cherry picking without a large wallet!

Maybe Bill Morrow (owner of this site) can help you out in your purchase? (see tells high end thinkpads, FYI).
