Installing OS on 2nd hard drive

#1 Post by buckalho » Wed Mar 12, 2008 8:41 pm

I don't know if anyone in this forum has ever asked these questions:

I just bought a ata hdd cady for my T41 and i heard some rumor that says the cady only support up to certain capacity. Can anyone confirm that?

And also, I'm trying to install OSX, ubuntu, and vista for the 2nd hard drive. has anyone tried that? If so, please help mee...

I'm sorry if I'm asking too much :P

OS should work, just select correct boot order in BIOS and use USB optical to install.

Otherwise, you can just remove HDD caddy screw, get more HDDs and Thinkpad caddies. Then you can swap internal drive in one minute.

I have one Windows drive and one Linux drive and I swap when I want to boot one or the other.

I have XP Pro on the internal drive and Vista on the caddy.

For installation all I did was swap the caddy drive into the internal, to give me access to installation DVD. Once installed successfully, remove drive, pop into caddy. Reinstall XP drive, success.

Upon boot up just press F12, to select boot drive from HDD0 or HDD1, real simple.

With regards to limits; I'm pretty sure you should be able to go up to 120GB, providing its a ATA.

I've also read something regarding OSX and Intel Cores and the need to apply a patch. U should be able to install Vista, Ubuntu with no probs.

If I find the link, I'll post it up in the next few days.
