I would just like to add that the keyboard flexing is a non-issue. If it flexes it is most likely the Chinese keyboard, call up IBM and have them send you the Thai version (you can tell which version you have by looking underneath the arrow keys for blueish green bumpers, which would mean you have the thai version). As for dead pixels, just relax, there seem to have been countless examples of people simply returning their tps for a new one with no questions askes, just stick to within the 30 day period to be sure. In regard to all the other faults like the creaking, cracking etc, i have none of those problems, so they are rare occurances. If your battery is slightly loose, as is mine, IBM will swap them out for a Sony, but to be honest unless you are anal about things like that you never notice and it does not affect performance or damage the durability of it.

Oh and lastly, you would be crazy to consider ANY of those other makes, take it from a sceptic and realist when i say that IBMs are built to be used!

I've got a Skandinavian keyboard made in Thailand, atleast it says so in the bottom (:)), also when compared to pictures of Chinese, it really does have less airholes, none the less it still flexes without some foam.

About palmrest flex, why does it not occour on every Thinkpad, or is it just related to the palmrest itself and the plastic?

I played around with the ASUS M6N when I was in Singapore. The quality is indeed questionable. The cover flexes and I am worried about the LCD. It seem to have some hardware issues as well, because reports say that a number of drives and other miscellaneous hardware are not compatible with it.

I purchased a T42 back in October (from Bill) and I have the Chinese keyboard. Does anybody know if I can get IBM to send me the Thai one? Or should I have done that within the first 30 days of ownership?

If so, do I just call em up and ask them to send me the Thai keyboard and give em the part number?

Thanks in advance
