Anyone having problems reading DVD+R?

#1 Post by krymson » Sun Dec 05, 2004 2:52 am

Hey All,

I have a R40 with a Panasonic/M a t s u s h i t a UJDA740 Drive
also known as an Ultrabay Plus DVD ROM and CD R/W.

I've learned that apparently Panasonic is rooting for DVD-R. Unfortunately I just got a stack of DVD+R's. I burned a multisession DVD+R, and the drive was able to read the first session, but the second session was not recognized.

Nero infoTool tells me the drive is not "supposed" to be able to read DVD+R's at all. Does anyone else have this problem? I think all, or at least most of the ultrabay optical drives are Panasonic/M a t s u s h i t a.

It should be able to read finalized +R's, if the firmware for the drive is current...

Use this link:

This is the firmware updates for combo drives. There are many disks because the software needs to analyze what kind of drive you have, and apply the "right" patch. (Really, you only need one of the diskettes...but you won't know which one initially...

Might want to start with disk one, see which disk it wants next, then just download and create that one.
