WTB: European Atheros A/B/G II Mini-PCI card 39T0357

#1 Post by ulrich.von.lich » Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:20 pm

FRU# 39T0357 or 93P4264 ONLY

I have a US card (FRU# 39T0355 aka 93P4262) in my ThinkPad but it doesn't work well in Europe. It cannot connect to channel 12 and 13.

So if you happen to have such a card and to be willing to sell it, please PM me with your offer. Thanks!

Regards,
Tony

You can enable your existing card...it's all there in XP...enabling channels etc...Google it a bit and you'll find your answer...

Hi George, thanks for the reply!

Actually I've done enough searches and it seems there is some kind of workaround for the Intel cards (firmware update) but nobody has ever succeeded to enable the extra channels on an Atheros card. I've looked everywhere in Windows XP (including the registry) but couldn't find anything helpful.

I don't see the point of these regional restrictions. But I guess I'm stuck here looking for the European version of the card...

Tony:

Did you see the thread Using 11 A/B/G Wireless Lan MINIPCI Adapter II 73P4301 in EU - see the post by DeDragonSlayer of Dec 20, 2005 5:26 pm ; there it is claimed to be possible to get the 93P4262 to utilize all European channels!?! Seems a bit complicated though, and one of the necessary links are broken (Google?)...

Best regards,

Johan
